Gunman Among 7 Dead After Florida Apartment Shooting

An argument at a quiet Hialeah, Fla., apartment complex turned deadly when a gunman killed six people before he was shot to death by a SWAT team after an hours-long standoff, police said.

Among the six victims ? three male and three female ? was a married couple who managed the building, Italo and Samira Pisciotti.

Police said the couple had gone to talk to a tenant who had filed a complaint. Moments later, gunshots rang out.

"A neighbor put in a complaint and they went to talk to another neighbor and that's all we know," the couple's daughter, Shamira Pisciotti, told ABC News.

Police were called to the apartment complex at around 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Hialeah Police Sgt. Eddie Rodriguez told ABC News that before authorities arrived, the gunman was walking through the five-story apartment complex firing randomly at people in the building's hallways and elevators.

The gunman, who is an unidentified male, killed a father who was walking his two children into an apartment from a balcony across the street, police said.

The man realized that shots were being fired and sprinted toward the front door to get his children to safety. While was fatally shot, his children were unharmed, Rodriguez said.

The shooter also killed three people in a unit on the fourth floor.

The gunman was eventually killed by SWAT team members in a different fourth floor apartment where he was holding two people hostage, police said.

While negotiators spent hours trying to convince the man to surrender, talks "just fell apart" with the gunman, and "they made the decision to go in there and save and rescue the hostages," Rodriguez told the Associated Press.

The hostages were unharmed from the ordeal.

While residents were able to escape during the gunfire, some left their doors open which allowed the gunman access to their balconies, Rodriguez said.

Many spent hours in nearby shopping stores on lock down overnight while police tried to clear the scene.

Residents were allowed back into the buildings at approximately 5 a.m. this morning, with the exception of those with units on the fourth and fifth floors.

Police are working to identifying the gunman and the remaining victims, as well as the shooter's motive.

Obama: I won't 'twiddle my thumbs' waiting for GOP

(CNN) - President Barack Obama explained why, amid a series of executive branch controversies, his renewed focus on the economy matters: it's not only about financial stability, but about equal opportunity.

The message he sees as "jobs and justice" from the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s March on Washington 50 years ago still rings true, Obama told The New York Times in an interview published Saturday evening.

To the many Americans who today are uncertain about their future, the 1963 march taught valuable lessons on racial equality and opportunities for "working folks," he argued.

The remarks, days after the president spoke on race and the Trayvon Martin case, came while he was on a campaign-style economic tour.

"Racial tensions won't get better; they may get worse, because people will feel as if they've got to compete with some other group to get scraps from a shrinking pot" if individuals do not see a stable fiscal future, Obama said.

"If the economy is growing, everybody feels invested. Everybody feels as if we're rolling in the same direction," he continued.

Obama's midweek schedule looked familiar to watchers of his 2012 campaign and first White House term, when he favored speaking to crowds at colleges and businesses around the nation over Washington venues when advocating his economic priorities.

After visiting universities in Illinois and Missouri and speaking on the importance of education to the economy, he flew to the port in Jacksonville, Florida, where he called for investment in infrastructure. On Monday, he will speak at a Tennessee shipping center about manufacturing, jobs, and economic growth; then on Wednesday, he will travel to Capitol Hill to meet with Democrats in the House and Senate.

He cast aside the questions about such issues as the National Security Agency leaks, Internal Revenue Service political scrutiny and U.S. handling of the Benghazi, Libya, attack last September. "With an endless parade of distractions, political posturing and phony scandals, Washington has taken its eye off the ball," he said, although he was not specific about which controversies he was referring to.

The White House plans to continue the economic push into the fall.

In the same time frame, he is also expected to make perhaps the most important economic decision of his second term: naming a new individual to chair the Federal Reserve. Ben Bernanke's term as chairman is set to expire in January.

Obama told the Times he wanted someone who would go beyond tracking inflation and focus on market stability.

"The idea is to promote those things in service of the lives of ordinary Americans getting better," he said. "I want a Fed chairman that can step back and look at that objectively and say, Let's make sure that we're growing the economy."

He disputed Republicans' claims about job creation should the controversial Keystone pipeline from Canada to the Gulf Coast be constructed. The 2,000 temporary construction jobs he predicted - far less than the 20,000 some Republicans have said to expect - would be a "a blip relative to the need" for job creation.

He suggested that concerns over the pipeline's environmental impact could be addressed to his satisfaction because "there is no doubt that Canada at the source in those tar sands could potentially be doing more to mitigate carbon release."

In the interview, the president acknowledged that people are "anxious" and "frustrated" about their own financial future even while the economy overall improves.

Some do not see the potential for upward mobility, which he called "part and parcel of who we were as Americans."

It predates the fiscal crises of the last decade, he said, and despite the bloated national debt, the federal government's austerity measures have hurt the government's ability to effect change in diverse areas such as climate change and immigration.

"I want to make sure that all of us in Washington are investing as much time, as much energy, as much debate on how we grow the economy and grow the middle class as we've spent over the last two to three years arguing about how we reduce the deficits," he said, blasting what he called "a damaging framework in Washington."

And he issued a stern warning to Capitol Hill Republicans: "I'm not just going to sit back if the only message from some of these folks is no on everything, and sit around and twiddle my thumbs for the next 1,200 days."

A series of polls this month have shown Obama's approval rating is below the 50% mark. But his scores - in the mid- and upper-40s - rank well above those of Congress, which came in at 21% and 12% approval in two surveys conducted about a week ago.

US consumer sentiment reaches 6-year high in July

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Americans are more confident about the economy than at any time since July 2007, a survey found, suggesting consumers will spend more and accelerate growth in the months ahead.

The University of Michigan said Friday that its final reading of consumer sentiment in July was 85.1. That's up one point from June but nearly 13 points higher than a year ago.

Rising home prices and steady job gains are boosting household wealth and income. The proportion of Americans who expect their inflation-adjusted incomes to rise in coming year is greater than at any time since late 2007, the survey found. And the percentage of Americans who say their home values have risen is also at a six-year high.

Consumer confidence is closely watched because their spending accounts for 70 percent of growth.

The University of Michigan polls roughly 500 people throughout the month and issues two readings. Americans' expectations for future growth dipped, while their assessment of current conditions improved.

Consumers have been resilient despite paying higher taxes this year. Their spending growth likely slowed in the April-June quarter after rising at the fastest pace in two years in the first quarter.

But with hiring solid and confidence rising, most economists forecast consumers will step up spending and help propel economic growth later this year.

Stock market ends mixed after uneven earnings news

NEW YORK (AP) ? Uneven corporate earnings news left the stock market mixed on Tuesday.

Most major indexes closed slightly lower, except for the Dow Jones industrial average. Yet even there the gain was due to the increase in one stock, United Technologies.

Better earnings from big banks, health insurers and other companies have helped drive the stock market higher this month. On Tuesday, however, the encouraging and the discouraging seemed evenly matched. Wendy's and United Technologies surged after posting stronger results than financial analysts expected. Netflix and the Altria Group, maker of Marlboro cigarettes, sank after their results fell short.

"In the absence of major economic news, the focus is on earnings this week," said David Joy, chief market strategist at Ameriprise Financial. "And there's nothing today to drive the market dramatically one way or another."

The Dow rose 22.19 points, or 0.1 percent, to 15,567.74. If not for a 3 percent gain in United Technologies, the Dow would have closed down a point.

United Technologies rose $3.01 to $105.12 after the conglomerate said strong orders for commercial airline parts and elevators helped lift its profit.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index fell 3.14 points, or 0.2 percent, to 1,692.39. The Nasdaq composite fell 21.11 points, or 0.6 percent, to 3,579.27.

It was a busy day for earnings as 35 companies in the S&P 500 were scheduled to turn in results. The second-quarter scorecard looks good so far. More than six out of every 10 companies have posted earnings that surpassed Wall Street's expectations, according to S&P Capital IQ.

Analysts forecast that second-quarter earnings for companies in the S&P 500 increased 3.8 percent over the same period last year.

"The bar has been set pretty low," said Joel Huffman, senior portfolio manager at U.S. Bank Wealth Management. So, it's hardly a surprise that many companies are able to jump over it, he said.

Sales are another story. Analysts expect revenue to shrink 0.7 percent in the second quarter. Huffman said he's encouraged that many banks and makers of consumer-discretionary goods have reported stronger U.S. sales. "It's an indication of the underlying growth in the U.S. economy versus other parts of the world," he said.

Apple rose $21, or 5 percent, to $439.99 in after-hours trading, when the company reported earnings and revenue that beat Wall Street's forecasts.

Among other stocks making big moves:

? Wendy's jumped 55 cents, or 8.2 percent, to $7.23. The fast-food company's net income came in above Wall Street's expectations. Wendy's also announced plans to sell 425 restaurants as franchises and raised its quarterly dividend by a penny to 5 cents.

? Marlboro maker Altria Group said its quarterly results fell short of analysts' expectations. Altria's stock sank 89 cents, or 2.4 percent, to $35.99.

? Netflix dropped $11.70, or 4.5 percent, to $250.26. The company said late Monday that it signed up fewer subscribers than financial analysts had projected. Big expectations have propelled Netflix's stock up 170 percent since the start of the year, adding more pressure on the company to deliver amazing numbers.

In the market for U.S. government bonds, the yield on the 10-year Treasury note rose to 2.50 percent from 2.48 percent late Monday. Long-term interest rates have swung in a wide range since May, a result of traders speculating over when the Federal Reserve will begin pulling back on its bond-buying program.

The rate on the 10-year note, a benchmark for most loans, was trading at 1.61 percent on May 1. It rose as high as 2.75 percent by the second week of July.

President Mugabe attacks Obama for tying aid for Africa and the decriminalisation of homosexuality

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe has criticised US President Barack Obama for tying aid for African countries to the decriminalisation of homosexuality.

Mugabe made the comments whilst addressing thousands of Zanu PF supporters on Tuesday.

He said:??Obama this man born of an African father and a white mother told us that US can only provide financial aid if we accepted homosexuality as a country.?

Going on to say that Zimbabwe would never legalise homosexuality, he said:??No gay couples could have children even if you lock them up for five years in a house.?

?We have to take these seats back even if it means taking them from the python that swallowed them in the last election,? he continued.

Mugabe has previously referred to gay people as being ?worse than dogs and pigs.?

In 2005, Prince Charles drew controversy in Britain when he shook hands with him at the funeral of Pope John Paul II.

Back in May,?Morgan Tsvangirai, Zimbabwe?s prime minister was criticised by gay rights campaigners in the country for denouncing homosexuality and reportedly saying marriage ?should be between a man and a?woman.?

Oil above $108 on supplies drop, hot money influx

BANGKOK (AP) Oil added to gains above $108 a barrel Monday, underpinned by three weeks of declining U.S. stockpiles and a rush of speculative money into the crude futures market.

Benchmark crude for September delivery was up 34 cents to $108.21 a barrel at early afternoon Bangkok time in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The now expired August contract closed up 1 cent at $108.05 on Friday after trading as high as $109.32 earlier in the day.

American motorists, meanwhile, are bracing for further increases in gas pump prices this summer after average national prices rose 12 cents in the past week alone.

Sharp falls in U.S. inventories of crude oil and gasoline have contributed to a 15 percent jump in the Nymex benchmark, also known as West Texas Intermediate crude, since June 21. Some analysts say speculators are also pushing the price higher.

Energy analysts at The Schork Group Inc. said open interest, which is the number of open futures contracts, is at record levels as is the participation of Wall Street hedge funds and investors such as commodity pool operators. They said in a report that Wall Street now owns six times as many barrels of oil in the WTI futures market as there are sitting at the Nymex oil delivery terminal in Cushing, Oklahoma.

Benchmark oil's jump has been so sharp that is has closed most of its discount to Brent crude that is traded on the ICE Futures exchange in London. Brent was up 39 cents to $108.38 a barrel.

In other energy futures trading on the Nymex:

Wholesale gasoline added 1.5 cent to $3.073 a gallon.

Heating oil rose 0.9 cent to $3.10 a gallon.

Natural gas fell 4.6 cents to $3.743 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Oil falls to near $106 after US home sales drop

The price of oil fell to around $106 a barrel Tuesday after weak U.S. home sales figures and ahead of a weekly report on America's inventories of crude that was expected to show another drop in supplies.

By early afternoon in Europe, benchmark crude for September delivery was down 96 cents at $105.98 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Oil slid $1.14 on Monday after the government said sales of previously occupied homes in the U.S. slipped 1.2 percent in June to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.08 million. Any sign that the U.S. economic recovery is slowing can cause the oil price to fall.

Analysts said speculative trading was also likely behind the sudden turnaround in the oil price.

"Profit-taking by short-term-oriented financial investors is doubtless to blame for the sharp fall," said a report from Commerzbank in Frankfurt. "The fact that the WTI price twice failed to achieve the $109 per barrel mark is likely to have prompted initial investors to unwind their positions. That said, it is possible that these same investors will re-enter at lower prices."

WTI, or West Texas Intermediate, is the crude oil type behind the benchmark Nymex contract.

Investors will later be monitoring fresh information on U.S. stockpiles of crude and refined products.

Data for the week ending July 19 is expected to show a draw of 2.6 million barrels in crude oil stocks and a build of 800,000 barrels in gasoline stocks, according to a survey of analysts by Platts, the energy information arm of McGraw-Hill Cos.

The American Petroleum Institute will release its report on oil stocks later Tuesday, while the report from the Energy Department's Energy Information Administration ? the market benchmark ? will be out on Wednesday.

Sharp drops in U.S. crude supplies for the past three weeks have helped propel oil to its highest price in about 16 months.

Brent crude, which is traded on the ICE Futures exchange in London, was down 29 cents at $107.86 a barrel.

In other energy futures trading on the Nymex:

? Wholesale gasoline lost 1.9 cents to $2.9992 a gallon.

? Heating oil retreated 1.08 cents to $3.058 a gallon.

? Natural gas gained 0.6 cent to $3.683 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Stand Your Ground protesters meet with Florida governor

Stand Your Ground protest: Gov. Scott met with seven protesters, part of a group into its third day of a sit-in at Scott's office. They discussed racial profiling, stand your ground legislation, and more.

By Gary Fineout,?Associated Press / July 18, 2013

At left, a Capitol Police officer locks the door to Florida Gov. Rick Scott's office as protestors sit in the hallway Tuesday July 16, at the Capitol in Tallahassee, Fla. Melanie Andrade (standing, in the 'Can we dream together?' shirt) is the FAMU Dream Defenders president who met with Gov. Scott on July 18. Dream Defenders organized a sit-in of Scott's office in response to the ?not guilty? verdict in the trial of George Zimmerman, the Florida neighborhood watch volunteer who fatally shot Trayvon Martin.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott returned to the state Capitol late Thursday and met with a group of protesters upset about the George Zimmerman verdict who'd been camping out at his office while demanding changes to the state's self-defense laws.

During a nearly-hour long meeting, Scott listened to seven protesters air their concerns about the verdict and descriptions of racial profiling. They were part of a group into its third day of a sit-in at Scott's office.

But in the end the Republican governor told the group that he would not call a special session to ask legislators to repeal the state's "stand your ground" law, which has become linked to Zimmerman's fatal shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder last weekend after claiming he shot the unarmed teen in self-defense.

Scott, who said he had spoken earlier in the evening with Martin's mother, Sybrina Fulton, instead said he would call for a day of prayer on Sunday for "unity."

He also urged the protesters to talk to local legislators if they wanted to change state law.

"Each of you have a representative, each of you has a senator, I'd sit down with each one," Scott said. "That's how the process works."

It is considered unlikely that the GOP-controlled legislature would revisit the law.

The governor also asked them to give him ideas on how to deal with racial profiling.

Near the end of the meeting, Scott told them: "I appreciate you and I look forward to seeing you again."

After the meeting, protesters reiterated that Scott should show "leadership" and call legislators into special session. They said they would remain in the Capitol until he agreed to their demands.

Scott had been out of town and away from the Capitol most of this week.

Protesters upset that Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder and manslaughter charges in the 2012 shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin marched on the Capitol on Tuesday and began occupying Scott's office.

More than two-dozen protesters remained in the Capitol after hours late Thursday and a group was spending the night again on Thursday. They have brought in pillows and mats to sleep in the hallway while supporters have brought them food.

The meeting between Scott and the protesters was polite. He spent time asking the protesters whether they were in college and what part of the state they were from.

But they also laid out their demands ? which they say includes dealing with problems that they say affect young people in the state, especially those who are black or Latino.

Melanie Andrade, who said her family came from the Cape Verde Islands to work at Disney World, told the governor how she lived in a gated community in Central Florida but that she and her brother would constantly be asked for ID by police even when they were standing in their own driveway.

Andrade and other protesters said some of the problems they have witnessed could be addressed by passing a comprehensive law named after Trayvon Martin that would include repealing the "stand your ground" law that allows a person to use deadly force if they believe their life is in danger.

"We didn't come here just to yell, we came to present a plan," said Phillip Agnew,?executive?director of the Dream Defenders, one of the groups organizing protests.

CDMA Monitoring System / Your cell phone call can be heard !

CDMA Monitoring System

The Cellular Monitoring CDMA Intercept will monitor, record, and play back intercepted conversations from a CDMA cellular phone network. Our CDMA Cellular Monitor or Cellular Interceptor is designed for law enforcement and government agencies to monitor and store intercepted cellular phone conversations of possible criminals, insurgents, terrorists, and those who commit espionage.

Cellular interceptors such as our Cellular Monitoring CDMA Intercept also functions as an SMS Intercept, able to capture SMS (short message service) data. This CDMA Intercept is a passive system, meaning no signal is transmitted from the cellular monitoring system.

In addition, the CDMA Intercept has no effect on cellular communication between the cellular phone handset and the cellular service provider. Because our CDMA Cellular Interceptors operate on a passive level, the cell phone network receives no electromagnetic interference. This cellular intercept system operates by automatically detecting the strongest signal in a CDMA service area. Working as a mobile phone intercept on global CDMA networks, the CDMA Cellular Monitor also intercepts control channels and both sides of a conversation through traffic channels.

ERIC CANTOR / Cantor is the only Jewish Republican in the United States Congress.

As of December 2010, Cantor is the only Jewish Republican in the United States Congress.[2][11][20]
Cantor stated that a ?stronger U.S.-Israel relationship? remains a top priority for him and that he would be ?very outspoken? if Obama "did anything to undermine those ties."[11][24] He supports strong United States-Israel relations.[2][6]
In October 2008, Cantor advocated and voted for the TARP program which aided distressed banks.[29 ]
Shortly after the 2010 midterm elections, Cantor met privately with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, just before Netanyahu was to meet with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. According to Cantor's office, he "stressed that the new Republican majority will serve as a check on the Administration" and "made clear that the Republican majority understands the special relationship between Israel and the United States."[25]

ERIC CANTOR
Campaign office incident

After the passage of the health care reform bill in March 2010, Cantor reported that somebody had shot a bullet through a window of his campaign office in Richmond, Virginia. A spokesman for the Richmond Police later stated that the bullet was not intentionally fired at Cantor's office, saying that it was instead random gunfire, as there were no signs outside the office identifying the office as being Cantor's.[16] A preliminary investigation indicated that the bullet was fired into the air and hit the office window going down. The bullet landed within a foot of the window.[17] Cantor responded to this by saying that Democratic leaders in the House should stop "dangerously fanning the flames" by blaming Republicans for threats against House Democrats who voted for the health care legislation.[18]

He voted against raising the minimum wage to US$ 7.25 in 2007.

Cantor also reported that he had received threatening e-mails related to the passage of the bill, but he declined to hand over copies of the e-mails, saying that doing so would encourage similar activity.[19]

The American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), the largest federation of trade unions in the United States, rates Cantor 0%, indicating an anti-Union voting record.

True statement: concerning ."AVCA" listed on nasdaq, DIVERSICARE and nursing homes in my area

To ParkView Care Center owned or run by Diversicare management services home office located in Tennessee.
Neglect and abuse was present at the time i had my elderly father admitted as a resident in the Park view care center nursing home located in Paris Texas.
"Just imagine", if you where sick with some thing and you continued to get worse as the days went by how long would you stick it out before you went to see the doctor 2 days , 3days, 4days, 5 days , . The first month my elderly father was a resident in ParkView Care Center owned or run by [Diversicare management Services home office located in Tennessee] he went 23 days before one of the day nurse's decide he needed to be taken to the hospital.
I had been harping to nurse's about my elderly fathers condition every day before he was sent to hospital by ambulance[ I WAS IGNORED] .
To make a true and factual statement about 3 of the nursing homes i had my elderly father in ,i noticed one thing in common with all of the three nursing homes . The staff are friendly to family members when they are on the sight of the nursing home. If a family member makes a special effort like being at the nursing home every day 7 days a week for extended periods of time. The staff and the employees become paranoid about your presents, reason they get paranoid is they become lax and complacent in their duties and tend to set around and do nothing when ever they get the chance.

The following statement happened to me at ParkView Care Center located in Paris Texas. I had a female nurse make special effort to confront me for about three days in a row when i walked into to check on my elderly father, this nurse would walk up to me as i entered the ParkView Care Center nursing home and she ask me --(DONT YOU HAVE A JOB YOU NEED TO GO TOO ) this nurse was i assume trying to intimidate me i guess .
I was offended by this statement but said nothing at the time . The red headed female nurse did this the following 2 days as i went to visit my elderly father.
This kinda of behavior leads me to think that they [ OF COURSE I'M SURE THEY WOULDN'T ADMIT TO THIS THOUGH ] ' where trying to get me to stop my regular visits. [ GOD FOR BID I WOULDN'T WON'T TO INTERFERE WITH THE FOLKS CHAIR AND RELAXATION TIME, IF YOU CATCH MY DRIFT. ]
I myself have seen bed alarms at PARK VIEW CARE CENTER NURSING HOME go off beeping for 2 to 3 hours at a time from the elderly residence rooms ,which needed a nurse to check on them .The third shift was the worse! On regular occasion's the residence bed alarms would be ignored by the nurse's at the nurse's station for periods from 1hour up to 3 hours at a time. [ Good God where is the compassion , these people should be ashamed of their selves.] ,One night i was up late with my elderly father watching television in the front of the building .
I heard the night nurse scream at the top of her voice at one of the elderly female residence's. The night nurse jumped up from her chair [ setting down imagine that ] and trotted from behind the nurse's station the whole time screaming at the top of her voice at the elderly woman , as the nurse got close enough to the chair which the elderly woman set in , the nurse grabbed both arms of the elderly residents chair and the nurse placed her face about 2 inches from the elderly resident face screaming as loud as she could at the elderly resident, for spitting on the floor. The poor old lady had Parkinson's .
The elderly woman didn't realize where she was, the elderly lady was handicapped. The night nurse must have lost her mind . [scared the holy hell out of the old lady]. The nurse did not know i was up front with my elderly father watching television late in the evening when this event happened. Once the night nurse noticed me watching what she was doing , she quickly walked back to her chair behind her official nurse's station. The night nurse scared the old lady so bad the elderly woman did not say anything verbally out loud to anyone the whole time that i noticed while i was visiting at this nursing home and i was there 7 days a week 5 to 8 hours a day.

One thing i will not forget is the bed alarms which go off at night from the elderly residents rooms . The nurse's on the night shift set at the nurse's station and ignore the loud beeping alarms and the flashing lights. [good god this is pitiful] this was a regular thing on the late shift for the most part .
The most upsetting thing i happen to witness once was an elderly resident go code blue [ stop breathing ] one night . The young nurse on duty ran from the room to the phone to call the doctor on the phone [she said the doctor would not answer the page] then she gave up on trying to reach the doctor she then called her head nurse at home [this all happened about 9:45pm at night] .
Mean while the elderly resident has gone with out breathing for about 9 or 10 minutes at this point, the head nurse told the young nurse on duty to call 911 and get the EMS guys to try to revive him . She then called 911 the EMS guys took about 6 minutes to arrive . Point of this story is the elderly man coded blue and went about 14 too 15 minutes with out any attempt to revive him ,while i stood watching all this [I thought to myself good god is this the way you do things] 14 too 15 minutes is way too dam long to let an elderly person go before you attempt to revive him.
[ This code blue happened at LEGENDS NURSING HOME in Paris Texas ]. The things which go on in nursing homes is ungodly i could write a small book but i will keep the rest of this to my self for now.

I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THIS TO ANYONE READING THIS, IF YOU HAVE FAMILY THAT YOU TRULY LOVE AND ARE CONCERNED ABOUT ,"DO NOT" FULLY TRUST STRANGERS TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR LOVED ONES . One last note PARK VIEW CARE CENTER IN Paris Texas should be closed down . One more thing if your loved one dies while in the care of the Park view care center be prepared for a complete change in the way the staff at this facility talk with you and treat you if you return to discuss pro rated billing [ which means they try to stiff you with back dated charges] or to visit other residents at this nursing home .
The staff becomes real real paranoid and unfriendly . I even had the janitor walk up to me and with a condescending smile get in my face and he said [ don't make me have to throw you out of here] ""WHAT A DUM ASS THIS GUY WAS"".
I was always polite with all employees at this nursing home in fear that my elderly father might be treated badly in retaliation if i had made someone mad. I will post more about the Paris Texas Nursing homes in my area in coming articles . I WRITE THESE ARTICLES FROM MY EYE WITNESS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE ELDERLY AND THE HANDICAPPED PEOPLE, WHO NEED ALL THE HELP THEY CAN GET BECAUSE THE ELDERLY FOR THE MOST PART ARE HELPLESS AND NEED THE YOUNGER PEOPLE TO GET THERE ASS IN GEAR AND HELP OUT NOT LOOK FOR A EASY WAY OUT .

"FOR PROFIT " HEALTH CARE IS DEEPLY FLAWED AND NEEDS A SEVERE CHANGE FOR THE BETTER. AFTER GOING THROUGH THE HEALTH CARE SYSTEM WITH MY ELDERLY FATHER I HAVE LEARNED A LESSON I WILL REMEMBER THE REST OF MY LIVING DAYS . ""ITS A DAM SHAME "" to be continued ------------ call this PART #1

India denies setting up immigration check posts in Nepal

India on Tuesday denied media reports that it had proposed to set up immigration check points at Pashupatinagar and Lumbini in Nepal, terming it a "misleading representation" of what was discussed. "These are misleading representations of discussions held during the home secretary level talks between India and Nepal held in Kathmandu on June 1, 2013," the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu said in a press statement.

"The proposal to set up immigration check points on both sides of the border at Pashupatinagar and Lumbini was made in good faith and in the best interests of Nepal in order to facilitate foreign tourist traffic (of third country nationals) through these points," it said.

Immigration check points are never established by any country in the territory of the other country, but adjacent to each other in their own territories, said the statement.

India denies setting up immigration check posts in Nepal

India denies setting up immigration check posts in Nepal

"There is no question whatsoever, therefore, of India establishing immigration points within Nepalese territory at Pashupatinagar and Lumbini. The reality is that India and Nepal discussed setting up such immigration check points in their respective territories at these two points (Pashupatinagar and Lumbini), just as they already exist at other agreed points along the India-Nepal border."

"Establishing immigration check point at Pashupatinagar is intended to facilitate movement of foreign tourists from Darjeeling to Ilam of east Nepal, and the one at Lumbini to facilitate those who wish to visit Lumbini after completing the Buddhist circuit in India," it said.

A section of Nepali media, citing the minutes of the home secretary-level talks, had stated that India proposed to establish immigration check points at Lumbini and Pashupatinagar.

Following the media reports, a writ was registered at Nepal's Supreme Court, and, on July 9, 2013, it gave an interim order to the government not to implement the decision and not allow India to set up such immigration check points.

Four major political parties - the United Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist, the Nepali Congress, the Communist Party of Nepal-United Marxist-Leninist and the Madeshi Morcha also asked the government not to implement the decision.

Nepal's home ministry had last week also sought to clarify the position and make clear that no such agreement was reached with Indian side but was ignored.

HBT: Cobb faces first hitters since concussion

Alex Cobb hasn?t pitched in a game since taking an Eric Hosmer line drive off the side of his head back on June 15. But his return is probably nearing.

According to beat writer Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times, the right-hander threw live batting practice on Sunday afternoon at Tropicana Field without a protective screen and reported no mental or physical discomfort. It was his first time facing live hitters since he was diagnosed with a concussion.

?It?s a relief,? Cobb told reporters after the workout. ?When the incident happens, you think the worst naturally, so being back out there kind of settles your nerves.?And you realize that you can do it again. So I?m happy.?

Cobb is scheduled to throw another round of batting practice on Thursday in Port Charlotte, Florida ? the site of Rays spring training. If that goes smoothly, he should be cleared for a minor league rehab start.

The 25-year-old had a 3.01 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 76/23 K/BB ratio through 83 2/3 innings this season.

Obama orders stepped up effort against US HIV/AIDS epidemic

By Yasmeen Abutaleb

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - After fresh criticism of his record on combating HIV/AIDS, President Barack Obama on Monday ordered a stepped up effort to deal with the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the United States.

An executive order from the White House, which follows renewed criticism of Obama's AIDS strategy during his visit to Africa in late June and early July, called for better coordination of the national effort.

Obama's order said that recent studies had shown that aggressive testing and early treatment can have a significant impact in preventing transmission of the human immunodeficiency virus that causes AIDS.

"In light of these data, we must further clarify and focus our national efforts to prevent and treat HIV infection," it said. "This acceleration will enable us to meet the goals of the Strategy and move closer to an AIDS-free generation."

The order said a working group chaired by Grant Colfax, director of the Office of National AIDS Policy, and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius would have 180 days to deliver recommendations to the president.

The HIV Care Continuum Working Group will gather information from federal agencies on HIV testing and care, review HIV research, and recommend ways to accelerate and improve HIV treatment and care, it said.

The new order follows recommendations this year from the U.S. Preventive Service Task Force that all 15 to 65 year olds be screened for HIV infection, something that will be covered under Obama's signature heath reform, the Affordable Care Act.

Nearly one in five of the estimated 1.1 million people with HIV in the United States are undiagnosed, and a third are still not receiving medical care, even though antiretroviral drugs can forestall long-term health risks of the disease and cut the risk of transmission by as much as 96 percent.

Obama announced a National AIDS Strategy in 2010, but activists have expressed disappointment at the administration's work on HIV/AIDS. They said they were not optimistic that the new drive would bring significant improvement.

"There are many countries in the world where the infection rate is going down - why can't the United States be one of them?" said Michael Weinstein, president of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation.

Over the past 10 years, the rate of new HIV infections in the United States has remained at about 50,000, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

A study published last July by a team at Atlanta's Emory University found that overall infection rates among U.S. black, gay and bisexual men rival those seen in sub-Saharan African countries that are hardest hit by HIV.

The 2010 AIDS strategy aims to slow the spread of HIV by 25 percent over five years. It focuses especially on African Americans, gay and bisexual men, Latinos, and substance abusers, groups most at-risk of infection.

Critics have said that Obama has not shown the same level of commitment to fighting AIDS as his predecessor, former President George W. Bush. Bush poured $15 billion into the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, known as PEPFAR, to combat AIDS worldwide.

"It's no coincidence this is happening after all the bad publicity about AIDS during Obama's trip to Africa," Weinstein said.

Obama has argued that his administration has expanded the scope of PEPFAR without increasing spending. Earlier this month in Tanzania, Obama said the administration had "gotten better" and "more efficient" at implementing PEPFAR, saying the program has served four times as many people than when it began in 2003.

Westboro Baptist Church To Protest Cory Monteith?s Funeral, Asks Lea Michele To ?Kill Herself?

Following the death of ?Glee? star Cory Monteith, the Westboro Baptist Church has announced that it will picket his funeral. Monteith, 31, was found dead in a hotel room and the cause of death has yet to be determined. He played a football player-turned-chorus singer on the popular Fox show.

After news of Monteith?s death became public, the WBC took to Twitter:

?Westboro Baptist Church is GLEE-ful over God?s righteous judgment to end @CoryMonteith?s life! Funeral picket soon! pic.twitter.com/EoDphhkSr3?

The church apparently has a problem with some of the gay characters and same-sex relationships that ?Glee? highlights.

?Westboro praises God for his righteous judgments. Hell won?t be gleeful for #CoryMonteith - he taught millions to sin pic.twitter.com/3wRgycLHb5?

Lea Michele, Monteith?s on and off-camera girlfriend, was also taken to task by the WBC, The Inquisitr reported.

?Will @msleamichele kill herself as well? Then the wedding can go on as planned IN HELL! ? invites for all their fans! pic.twitter.com/VhH1Wf78Ee?

This sort of behavior is nothing new for the WBC. In the past, the church has threatened to picket after the Aurora theater shooting, Sandy Hood Elementary School massacre and the recent funerals of the 19 firefighters who were killed in Arizona.

Manziel pleads guilty to misdemeanor charge

(AP) ? Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge stemming from his arrest last year for fighting outside a bar near campus.

The Heisman Trophy winner made a brief appearance in court Monday and admitted he failed to identify himself to police following the altercation in June 2012. As part of a plea deal, other charges against the 20-year-old, including disorderly conduct, were dismissed.

Brazos County Attorney Rod Anderson says Manziel was ordered to pay a $2,000 fine, about $230 in court costs and was credited with the overnight jail time he served following his arrest.

His court appearance comes after Manziel departed a day early from the prestigious Manning football camp held in Louisiana. Manziel said an illness caused him to miss practice sessions.

Facebook All Set To Offer Sports Betting

July 14th, 2013

Online Betting in the UK has already exceeded ?2 billion and in an attempt to break into the world of online betting, Facebook has teamed up with bookmaker Paddy Power for in-play betting. This is major online gambling expansion from Facebook. The offer is ?restricted to the UK, where Sports Betting is all legal.

Facebook was under fire earlier for offering casino games with real money winnings. The recent deal with Paddy power which that was announced yesterday will enable Facebook to integrate ?Paddy Power in Play ? the sport betting platform, and make it availible to its users from the UK.

Sports Betting Right From your Facebook Account

?Paddy Power in Play ?will enable Facebook users to bet right from their Facebook accounts on a variety of sporting events while providing them the opportunity to engage with other players.

Both the Companies are excited about the prospects of this new sport betting product. According to?Peter O?Donovan, managing director of Paddy Power ????We are pleased to partner with Facebook on this pioneering work. ? ?,while the Facebook spokesman was quoted as saying ??Online betting is a very popular and a regulated phenomenon in the UK , we have carefully selected our provider and we have taken strict measures to prevent under 18 ?.

How Safe Will be the Under Age ?

Facebook has some 3 million UK based users that are aged in the range of 13 to 17 , which is an alarming sign for the campaign groups.

Both Facebook & Paddy Power have assured that ?strict measures are taken to make ?Paddy Power in Play ??totally inaccessible to users under 18. ?But critics are still skeptical and have raised concerns that under 18 can still access the product by providing ?wrong age information or using their parents credit cards.

A similar research in 2008 by the Gambling commission has found that almost 1 million children are suffering with gambling problems. A campaign group ?Stop Children Gambling ? has stated on its website that Street Bookmakers have the same age limit but they can at least identify the gamblers age with the face looks and unfortunately it is not the case on internet.

Penn State, Bill O'Brien may ask NCAA to reduce sanctions

10:07 AM ET?07.13 | Penn State may ask the NCAA to reduce some of its sanctions, university officials said Friday after football coach Bill O'Brien gave a private presentation to the board of trustees. O'Brien addressed the trustees for more than an hour Friday morning behind closed doors during the board's executive session at the Penn State Fayette branch campus. The presentation's slides were visible from a hallway through several full-length glass-paned doors into the room where the session was held. The specifics about the proposal were not available, and officials, including O'Brien, declined to go into details about his visit, which was initiated by the board. But, one of the presentation slides had the heading "potential proposal to modify sanctions" and another had a heading concerning the impact of the scholarship reductions that are part of the sanctions.
