Ever since its release in October of last year, Pitch Perfect has been one of the most talked about movies. Pitch Perfect tells the story of Becca, a girl who does not want to be at college. However, she finds herself in an all-girl a capella group, the Bellas. The movie shows the struggle of the Bellas to return to the national championship, where the group had previously crumbled under pressure, and their rivalry with an all-male group on the same campus.
?It?s hilarious. It?s one of my favorite movies,? says Anna Kintas?15. ?I?m a member of Chorale, so it?s funny to see how similar and different we are.? ?There are many fans of the movie, and it made $ 113,042,075 worldwide in its box-office run, beginning in last October. It also has an 81% on Rotten Tomatoes, a website that reviews movies.
Recently, there has been much speculation as to when the sequel will come out. The rumors were put to rest when Universal Studios announced on April 16 that there will in fact be a sequel in 2015. Only Kay Cannon, who wrote the screenplay for the first film, has been confirmed to return at this point.
The movie also has made a successful soundtrack that has sold over 600,000 copies. The soundtrack includes covers by the cast of songs such as Rihanna?s ?Please Don?t Stop the Music? and Kelly Clarkson?s ?Since U Been Gone?. A popular song from the soundtrack is ?Cups?, a short tune that includes Anna Kendrick, who plays Becca, clapping and using a cup to make the beats. This song is a hit, and now has its own music video.
?Pitch Perfect is a great movie. It?s a bit crazy, but funny,? says Madeleine Kusel?16. Pitch Perfect is also known for its wildness. One of the characters, played by Rebel Wilson, calls herself Fat Amy. Another character, Lily, can barely speak over a whisper. This allows Lily to say some funny things. For example, she says, ?I asked to go to the bathroom three hours ago.? Another crazy thing that happens is that Fat Amy has a burrito thrown at her by one of the members of the all- male group. The zany antics of the movie are entertaining.
The all-male groups, the Treblemakers, are the most popular group in the a capella world of Pitch Perfect. Their rivalry with the Bellas has especially deepened after the Treblemakers won the national championship, and the Bellas completely fell apart. The Treblemakers are led by Bumper, who causes the most trouble for the Bellas. On the other hand, there is Jesse who is a freshman that brings a new element to the Treblemakers. The Treblemakers have a lot of fun together and are loose.
The Bellas, in contrast, are incredibly strict. The Bellas? leader, Aubrey, was especially disappointed about how their national championships went. She is partially responsible, and she wants everything to go according to plan. However, Becca challenges her authority whenever he can, due to the fact that Becca thinks that they need an update.
The members of the Bellas are an eclectic mix of people. The different personalities cause both conflict between the girls, as well as humor. Seeing these unique characters allows the audience to better relate to a character, and also helps the audience understand a character?s humor.
Overall, Pitch Perfect is a great movie with lots of fantastic singing and funny comedy. There are still many questions surrounding the sequel, like when it will take place and if there will be any new stars. Hopefully, the sequel will live up to the hype, and the movie will be worth the wait.
